MOLLIE HOFF, President & Chief Operating Officer
Prior to joining Lakefield Veterinary Group, Mollie co-founded and operated Discovery Village, a children's enrichment center that encompasses children's enrichment classes, preschool, summer and winter camps, guardian supervised play time, birthday parties and a café.
Before Discovery Village, Mollie was a Senior Manager with Kelly, Bamman & Partners, LLC., a consulting and business catalyst group, where she was responsible for preparing business plans, developing and analyzing financial projections for potential start-up companies, sourcing potential investment, and buyout opportunities, performing due diligence and integration planning for merging two or more companies. Business focus included in-depth analysis for start up opportunities in primary health care consolidation in the United Kingdom as well as veterinary franchising opportunities and pet cremation services in the United States.
Mollie's many years of experience in the veterinary industry include her role as VP of Operations for Pet's Choice, Inc., a veterinary consolidation company. There she had direct responsibility for the vision and operations for the entire company. Mollie developed the infrastructure to integrate, operate and improve locations at a rate of over four per month.
Mollie was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and attended the University of Washington, Seattle.>
DR. GARY GOLDSTEIN, Chief Medical Officer
Prior to joining Lakefield Veterinary Group, Dr. Goldstein served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine for 13 years as Professor and Section Chief of the Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery service. He spent six of those years as Associate Medical Director of the Veterinary Medical Center where he was responsible for medical operations, strategic planning and implementation of medical standards. He also implemented leading edge didactic and clinical programs that fostered innovation, teamwork, and continuing education programs; while he also achieved research distinction and educated the next generation veterinarian. He was voted outstanding faculty of the year in 2006, received the Dr. Peter Emily AVDC Service Award, presented to an outstanding Diplomate for contributions made to further the field of veterinary dentistry in 2011 and voted one of the 15 Top Dental professors in the Country in 2014.
Dr. Goldstein has also served as president and owner of the Texas Veterinary Dental Clinic and Medical Director of the Veterinary Emergency Referral Group Inc. in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Goldstein graduated from the University Of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. In 1987 Dr. Goldstein became a Charter Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and in 1992 became board Certified in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery. He was on the faculty at the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine from 2002 - 2014.
He was on the board of directors of the American Veterinary Dental College as recording secretary from 2003 - 2014 and was the past president of the American Veterinary Dental Society.
CHAD QUICK, Chief Development Officer, General Counsel
As Chief Development Officer, Chad directs the expansion of Lakefield Veterinary Group through the acquisition of new member hospitals. He also assists with the integration of acquired hospitals and provides general counsel.
Before moving into the position of Chief Development Officer, Chad served as Chief Legal Officer for Lakefield Veterinary Group, where he was tasked with performing the legal work related to the company’s acquisitions and responsible for counseling the company about a wide range of issues facing the company on a day to day basis. Today, Chad continues to serve Lakefield Veterinary Group as its General Counsel.
Prior to joining Lakefield Veterinary Group, Chad was an attorney for Streit, Peterson, Hall & Keeney, LLP, a boutique law firm in Houston, Texas, where he was primarily focused on transactional and operational matters for clients in the upstream oil and gas industry. He also served as outside general counsel for a large specialty veterinary practice, advising it on issues ranging from day to day operational matters to critical decisions related to the succession of hospital ownership.
Before attending law school, Chad was a Commodity Manager for Reliant Energy, a power company which owned retail and power generation assets throughout the country. With Reliant Energy, he was responsible for analyzing large segments of spend related to the company’s steam generation assets. He established and developed strategic alliance relationships with selected key market players to support the company in lowering its total ownership cost of such assets and maximizing its return on capital investments. Chad has been close to the veterinary industry his entire life and understands the issues and concerns of veterinarians who own their practice, as his father owned and operated a large specialty practice for over 30 years and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Lakefield Veterinary Group as a key member of its medical leadership team.
Chad earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law.
DR. CARA BORRE, Director of Medical Operations
Dr. Borre brings over 25 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian to our management team. During her career, Dr. Borre has practiced at and managed successful veterinary hospitals. She offers a simple, practical approach to hospital operations that only a veteran of the industry is capable of providing.
As Director of Medical Operations, Dr. Borre is involved in assisting our hospital leaders as they build and grow their practices into trusted community resources for pet health and education. While practicing, Dr. Borre brought to her clients a genuine passion for enhancing the bond they share with their pets. She now brings that same passion to our hospital teams and uniquely understands the challenges of being a caregiver while running a thriving business. She is constantly working to support those who work so hard to improve pet's lives. Dr. Borre received her doctorate of veterinary medicine degree from Michigan State University in 1991 and has practiced her entire career in Washington State. Outside of work, she continues her dedication to animals by volunteering for wildlife causes and is a co-leader on Oceanic boat tours that search for seabirds.
TIM NGUYEN, Chief Information Officer
Tim brings over 20 years of information technology experience to Best Friends. As founder and owner of three technology startups, he brings entrepreneurial and leadership experience to the management team. In his last company, he served as Chief Information and Technology Officer, with a focus on innovative technologies. His previous companies won Small Business awards and multiple Puget Sound Business Journal sponsored awards. Tim also has a patent (#7269605) for "Personal Information Manager Data Synchronization and Augmentation" and another patent pending. He is an alumnus of the University of Washington holding a Bachelors of Arts Degree.
A true Seattleite at heart, he enjoys the outdoors, fishing, hiking, and all the fun that the Pacific Northwest has to offer; and yes, even the rain! He also enjoys traveling and exploring with his wife, two teenage daughters and family dog, Bambi, a Havanese.
