Alexandre Desmarais, Executive Chairman
Alexandre is Executive Chairman of the Lakefield Veterinary Group and Best Friends Pet Care. He is a Founding Partner of Belvoir U.S., an investment company within the Belvoir Investments Corporation, Paul Desmarais Jr.’s personal holding company.
Previously, Alexandre was an Associate at Sagard Capital, a long-term investment firm in public and private small- and mid-sized companies, and an analyst at Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Equity Group. He graduated from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a 2003 recipient of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, presented by HRH Prince Andrew.
Paul Desmarais Jr., Director
Paul is Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Power Corporation and Executive Co-Chairman of Power Financial. He is a director of a number of Power group companies in North America, including Great-West Life, London Life, Canada Life, Putnam Investments, Investors Group, and Mackenzie. In Europe, he is Chairman of Pargesa Holding and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert, and a director of LafargeHolcim and SGS.
He is Chairman of the Board of Governors of the International Economic Forum of the Americas (Canada), a Trustee of the Brookings Institution and Co-Chairman of the International Advisory Board, a member of the Business Council (United States), and a member and past Chairman of the Business Council of Canada. Paul is also on the advisory boards of the Council on Foreign Relations and Harvard University. He is also active on a number of philanthropic advisory councils.
He is involved with the United Way of Greater Montréal; he founded the Major Donors Circle in 1997 and has been its Honorary Chairman for many years. He is also one of the Honorary Chairs of the Healing More Better campaign of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation.
In 2014, he participated in a ski expedition to the North Magnetic Pole, organized by True Patriot Love, Canada’s largest charity supporting military families. He was Co-Chair of the “A Force of Nature” national campaign of Nature Conservancy Canada. The national campaign raised more than $500 million and protected 752,000 acres of at-risk natural habitat across Canada.
Paul obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and an MBA from INSEAD. He has received the Executive of the Year Award from the Academy of International Business, the Insigne d’Officier de l’Ordre de la Couronne of Belgium, and the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur in France. He is also an Officer of the Order of Canada, and an Officer of the Ordre national du Québec.
Mollie Hoff, President & Chief Operating Officer
Mollie's many years of experience in the veterinary industry include her role as VP of Operations for Pet's Choice, Inc., a veterinary consolidation company. There, she was directly responsible for the entire company’s vision and operations, and developed the infrastructure to efficiently integrate, operate, and improve locations.
Before joining Lakefield Veterinary Group, she co-founded and operated Discovery Village, a children's enrichment center that encompasses children's enrichment classes, preschool, summer and winter camps, and guardian-supervised playtime and birthday parties.
She was a Senior Manager with Kelly, Bamman & Partners, LLC, a consulting and business catalyst group, where she was responsible for preparing business plans, developing and analyzing financial projections for potential startup companies, sourcing potential investment and buyout opportunities, and performing due diligence and integration planning for merging two or more companies.
Mollie was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and attended the University of Washington, Seattle.
Dr. Gary Goldstein, Chief Medical Officer
Prior to joining Lakefield Veterinary Group, Gary served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine as Professor and Section Chief of the Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery service. He also acted as Associate Medical Director of the Veterinary Medical Center, where he was responsible for medical operations, strategic planning, and implementation of medical standards. He implemented leading-edge didactic and clinical programs that fostered innovation, teamwork, and continuing education programs, achieved research distinction, and educated the next generation of veterinarians. During his tenure, he was voted outstanding faculty of the year, received the Dr. Peter Emily AVDC Service Award for contributions to the field of veterinary dentistry, and was voted one of the 15 Top Dental Professors in the Country.
He has also served as president and owner of the Texas Veterinary Dental Clinic and Medical Director of the Veterinary Emergency Referral Group Inc. in Houston, Texas.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a Charter Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and is Board Certified in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery. He was on the faculty at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine from 2002 to 2014, was on the board of directors of the American Veterinary Dental College as recording secretary from 2003 to 2014, and is a past president of the American Veterinary Dental Society.
Dr. Charles B. Quick, Director
Charles served as Assistant Professor at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine until 1979, when he returned to Houston to establish Houston Veterinary Radiology Clinic, which became Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists in 2005.
He received his BS and DVM in Veterinary Science from Texas A&M University and an MS in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Auburn University. He is Board Certified by the College of Veterinary Radiology, and is a member of the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American College of Veterinary Radiologists. In 2014, he received the TAVP Clinical Referral and Consulting Award.
